Making an iPhone application stand out among 100,000 others is a nearly impossible task. To make it a bit easier, the UserSquare team today launched MobBuzz, an app-based social networking tool to help developers distinguish their creations.
The drop-in module, created by three lines of code, will give app users access to forums where they will be able to find up-to-date information, other users with similar interests, reviews and customer support. Users access the forums through the MobBuzz button, which is viewable from any portion of an application.
A key feature included with MobBuzz is push notifications that will make it easy for users to filter or subscribe to specific topics within apps, and receive notifications to their inboxes or through their Facebook accounts. Customizable settings give users complete control over how and where they participate in each app that uses MobBuzz.
For example, a developer of a movie application may be focusing on providing users with access to movie times and locations in their areas. However with MobBuzz, the developer could easily add forum functionality that would allow users to not only check times and locations, but also write reviews of movies for other users, or provide easy directions to certain theaters. This is information that could add to the value of an application.
Overall features include push notifications, direct messaging between users, geo-tagging and filtering, ratings, Facebook and Twitter integration, user analytics and ad revenue. When the app is ready to go public, MobBuzz will deploy a custom server configured to the developers specifications to handle the added features.
The MobBuzz tool is currently free during the beta, but will have three payment channels once launched to the public, including standard, premium and enterprise. Prices will range from $399 for standard to $3,999 for enterprise. If you’re interested in learning more about pricing and the features associated with each, go here.
MobBuzz is also looking for developers to help test the beta solution, provide feedback and make recommendations. If you’re interested, sign up here.
MobBuzz is the first product from the team at UserSquare and is self-funded. Its technical team is located in Ottawa, Canada, and its business team is in Berkeley, Calif.
